Question by Kourtney Y: How do you install laminate counter tops in the kitchen?
Our kitchen is very outdated and all it needs is new counter tops and paint. My husband seems to think this will be a HUGE project. How hard is it to put countertops in and how do you do it? Thanks!
Thanks so much Bandett!

Laminates are fairly easy to install. You need to apply them slightly larger than the counter and get what is called a laminate trimming tool. Because the adhesive used for laminates is very strong, once it is down you can’t shift it.You may even be able to rent this tool from your home improvement store or where you purchase the laminate.

What do you think? Answer below!

It is not a huge project, just find out where the counter top is connect disconnect it with a screw driver tkae measurements and replace it with a counter top that you may like at home depot

Another option is refaceing the cabinet
take the old laminatre off and replace it with new laminate good luck

with the premade counter tops is easy to do. you have to cut the hole for the sink with a elec. jig saw(30 bucks for a cheap one) the 2 of you can do it on a Saturday. undo the sink water supply, then undo the sink drain. look under the top to release the top. then take out the sink. cut a hole for the new sink. put the new top on . put in the sink. rehook the water and drain. get the store to cut the new top to the correct length. you dont need any special tools. google. installing counter tops. it is one of the cheapest and easiest things to do that will improve your kitchen. google “home depot” to see there counter tops and prices. also ,they will give any advice you will need.If you have a counter top that is L shaped , the angles are pre cut and come with the hardware to connect them , no big deal.. Get one one of your gal friends and have at it. but like i said google “how to intsall a counter top” I can do one in few hours by my self. and painting ? well you know how to do that. how ever ,painting cabnets can be a bit tedious. you take the doors off and remove the hinges(clean the hinges real good before you put the back on) paint the doors and cabs. and reasssemble. this will take more time than the counter top. Use a good paint that will dry hard so that your finger nails wont scar it. ask the folks where you buy the paint. google ” roll and tip painting” google “painting cabinets” for more info. and go for it just start without him. do the counter top first.

Get it done by a counter top shop. They will measure and install the tops. They will cut out the blank for the sink.It does not cost that much and you get the look you like.By the time you buy or rent the tools and material you really do not save that much money.
